WW2 MERCHANT MARINE DRAMA
This is a WW2 Marchant Marine drama centering around a ship's captain played be Edward G. robinson and the 1st Mate played by Victor Mclaglan. The ship, a tanker, is assigned to pick up a load of oil at the port of Tampico and bring it back to the USA. Enroute the ship is torpedoed and lost. The captain "retires" to Tampico and buys a home but secretly works with agents to unmask the spys responsible for the loss of his ship. He is embroiled in all sorts of trouble including a wife he suspects of being a spy. Eventually the truth comes out and the bad guys brought to justice. Good movie but don't expect an Academy Award winner...good picture and sound.......I liked it but it's not a "classic".
